Kevin Pledge FIA, FSA
CEO and Founder

Acceptiv was founded by Kevin Pledge to provide a modern digital experience for insurance companies. Prior to founding Acceptiv, Kevin had founded and led a consulting firm that provided data warehouse consulting to insurance companies for over 10 years. A clear pattern, across all clients, was:

  • the length of time it took to process new business,

  • missed opportunities in the middle market, and

  • frustration from sales agents with the underwriting process.

Acceptiv was formed to provide a solution for insurance companies looking for a modern digital experience. In 2014, Acceptiv helped Teachers life launch the first online, fully underwritten, life insurance business in North America, followed by other insurers, MGA’s and a major bank.

In 2017 we built a new system specifically for the North America market. This new system leveraged our experiences in the NA market and was restructured to provide better local support.

Support and Development

Acceptiv develops insurance solutions primarily on the Microsoft Azure cloud using modern frameworks and tools.

We use a sprint development methodology with multiple environments and frequent updates so as to keep clients engaged.

Our seven key development principles are:

  1. We provide business first solutions; our systems are developed to meet a clear business need.

  2. Training, knowledge transfer and a partnership with our clients are key to the success of any system.

  3. Client data is always owned by the client, and the highest level of security is critical. Our systems are kept up to date on the latest long-term release for the platform tools we are using.

  4. We provide systems that affect people’s lives. AI and decision algorithms need to be ethical and transparent.

  5. We need to provide smooth integration with insurer’s existing systems from both a technical and business perspective. At a technical level we use Swagger for API documentation, but human interaction is most important.

  6. Accessibility and analytics are important features of the system and are designed into the system, not added as an after-thought.

  7. We don’t believe in developing bespoke software solutions; our systems are modular and customizable. Enhancements are delivered as part of support, not for an additional fee.
